Technology

Cruising to class carrying his personal computer, the teacher slows down his steps and greets the students. Immediately, he opens the computer, connects it to the projector and commences his vocation. The setting is class ME-I, room no 203, the section divided for the first year Mechanical Engineering students here at Kathmandu University. It is apparent that the foregoing generation finds this way of learning and teaching perplexing but, this generation absolutely savors it. And it is due to technology this has been made possible. Simply, technology can be defined as the implementation of scientific knowledge in practical life. However, scholars define it as, “The branch of knowledge dealing with engineering or applied sciences.” But technology is more than that. Technology, a word so frequent, yet so vague. It doesn’t take a genius mind to apprehend that the world is getting stronger technologically with each day passing. We don’t need to make our way to the larger territory to perceive it. Technology is applicable in our everyday life. Television, different gadgets, everything has been birthed by technology. And each thing has been turned into their own improvised version. Thus, the advancement. So, what actually is technological advancement? Before proceeding to the denotation, I’d like to recall a certain event. In numerous occasions, I’ve found my own mother phoning me from the other room and asking me to bring her things instead of calling me and letting me know in person. That, to me, is technological advancement. There are other things too – that I’d like to put forward but let’s not dwell on them now. One of the most wonderful gifts of technology is AI. Even though no perfected versions of AI exists, the accessible editions have blown millions of minds away. You want to perform calculations? Seek AI’s help. You want to read books, watch movies? AI will be the one to make it possible. And this is made possible by the people thriving in the technological field. A blessing in disguise, technology has done many things

that were deemed impossible in the past. And its applications and daily uses are limitless. Every day, we hear a number of news on the subject matter. The improvised versions of many technological aspects put in the sea of news. Low dimensions have been improvised to high dimensions. Monochromaticity is a part of our past. Keyboards have been replaced with touchscreens. And there are so many other prime examples that can easily be put forth. It is because of the advancement in the technology, schooling, shopping, banking, jobs, etc. have been painless in the recent days. Almost everyone relies on technologies these days. To sum it up, technology is more than just a gift to human kind. As astonishing as it may sound, the advancement in technology is the usual cherry on top. Thus, humans and technology have now become interdependent. Hopefully, this interdependency proves to be head and shoulders above in the near future.
